East Africa Multi-purpose Digital Skills for Innovation and Economic Development Organization (EADSIEDO) Honors Mr. Meresa Hadush Gebreyesus with the 2026 Outstanding African Innovation and Leadership Award

The East Africa Multi-purpose Digital Skills for Innovation and Economic Development Organization (EADSIEDO) is proud to announce the presentation of its 2026 Outstanding African Innovation and Leadership Award to Mr. Meresa Hadush Gebreyesus, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Organization, in recognition of his outstanding leadership, professional excellence, and long-standing contribution to digital skills development, innovation, education, and Ethiopia’s digital transformation agenda.

The award ceremony was held on June 8, 2026 (Sene 1, 2018 E.C.) in the presence of invited guests representing Ethiopian government institutions, diplomatic missions, universities, researchers, technology professionals, development partners, civil society organizations, youth leaders, innovators, and distinguished members of the public.

Following a comprehensive review and evaluation process conducted by the Organization’s Award Selection Committee, Mr. Meresa Hadush Gebreyesus was selected for this prestigious recognition based on his academic achievements, professional experience, leadership, and measurable contribution to digital transformation in Ethiopia.

Mr. Meresa Hadush Gebreyesus has demonstrated a strong academic commitment to technology and innovation. He earned his  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science Bed from Adama University  and further advanced his expertise through postgraduate studies, strengthening his professional capacity in digital technologies, education, and innovation.

His academic background has provided a solid foundation for developing practical digital solutions that support education, government modernization, and national development.

Professional Experience

Throughout his professional career, Mr. Meresa has served Ethiopia in several important educational and governmental institutions.

His professional experience includes:

Information Technology (IT) Teacher at Humera Preparatory School, Tigray Region.

 Information Technology (IT) Teacher at Maychew Preparatory School, Tigray Region.

Information Technology (IT) Teacher at  Ayder Preparatory School, Mekelle, Tigray Region.

Mekelle University   ICT and Education e-Learning Expert within the ICT and Student Services Directorate at  Mekelle University, where he contributed to the advancement of digital learning systems and educational technology.

Digital Education Specialist  at Ethiopia’s Ministry of Innovation and Technology, supporting initiatives that strengthen digital education, institutional capacity, innovation, and technology-driven public service delivery.

These achievements reflect years of dedicated service to education, technology, capacity building, and national development.
